Thinking Outside the Multiplex in Indiana (October 28, 2011)

There’s so much going on this week I don’t know where to begin to summarize it. I’m especially looking forward to the two revival screenings at the IMA, The Shining and Killer of Sheep. What’s on your movie list? Continue reading

Five count ’em five limited release films open in Indianapolis today and a sixth on Wednesday, while Fort Wayne gets an Indiana exclusive. Sort of makes you wish a few of these movies could have opened in the summer weeks (note the plural) when zero new films opened at the arthouse, doesn’t it? Plus more Halloween horror this week and next. What’s your movie priority? Continue reading

Thinking Outside the Multiplex in Indiana (October 14, 2011)

Two American indies and a South African drama are the limited release films opening this week- and unusually, one of them isn’t playing in Indianapolis (at least not yet). Be sure and read through to “next week and beyond” if you’re a horror film fan. There’s a good amount of special programming for you to enjoy this week and even more coming in the next two. Myself, I’m so excited about the opportunity to see Sunrise with live accompaniment that I’m driving to Bloomington for the privilege. What’s on your moviegoing schedule? Continue reading

It’s an embarrassment of repertory theater riches again this week in college towns South Bend and Bloomington, while two old main street movie palaces play host to festivals: the B Movie Celebration at Franklin’s Artcraft and the Homegrown Hoosier Film Festival at Anderson’s Paramount. More on that and all your other “outside the multiplex” options after the cut. Continue reading

Only one new release this week- the English 1960s-set drama Brighton Rock at the Keystone Art in Indianapolis- but there are a bunch of theatrical holdovers and a whole lot of special screenings around the state to keep us all busy. What’s on your moviegoing list? Continue reading

Thinking Outside the Multiplex in Indiana (September 2, 2011)

It’s a good thing this is a holiday weekend because there’s lots to see, including two well-reviewed foreign films- from Ireland and France- opening in Indianapolis and a new indie drama opening state wide. What’s on your viewing radar? Continue reading

Thinking Outside the Multiplex in Indiana (August 26, 2011)

Several new films open in Indianapolis and there’s a good lineup of holdovers and special screenings around the state. Since I’ve never seen Scarface I can’t let the opportunity pass by. What’s on your moviegoing agenda? Continue reading
